Their mission is "to demand and promote responsible water management from the perspective of equity, accessibility, public health, sustainable development and collective sovereignty over this vital and strategic resource". Its first demands were the holding of a public debate on water management in Quebec, the adoption of a global and integrated water policy, and the strengthening of the Ministry of the Environment. With its many volunteers and water carriers, Eau Secours has been pursuing this fundamental mission since its founding. The organisation provides tools to citizens' groups who are fighting for the protection of water and reminds government authorities that water is a human right and that its management must remain under public control.
